The Unheard Voices Project (UVP) is dedicated to collecting and recording the thoughts, feelings and stories of working people concerning their occupations and the impact of change on their lives, their occupations, and their families.
Our goal is to do more than document and archive video interviews with people involved in traditional workways and professions.
We are seeking answers to big questions that go to the heart of human survival. In our filmed portraits of working communities, we look at the same concerns – How do we put food on the table? How do we have meaningful work that sustains people in body and spirit? How do we pass the deep knowledge on to the next generation, whether they are fishermen or furniture-makers or farmers?
And most importantly, can we use these documentaries to help people better their lives, make good decisions for their families and themselves, and protect the communities they love?

I am a 3rd generation waterman, native to the Chesapeake Bay and i am struggling because of bad fisherys management of government agencys. Some of our fisherys are extremely strong, such as our scallop fishery and Fishery Management has forced me and hundreds of fisherman to Individual Fishing Qutoas that are destroying our lives.
Thanks for your comment. I think this rally was all about how fishermen — at least the ones tied to a locality, who care what happens in their home waters — have wisdom about how to manage those waters, more than bureaucrats. Maybe NOAA will start listening?
